When you walk into Lake City Bagels, you notice more than the smell of fresh-baked bagels. You feel the energy, creativity, and hospitality that shape every guest experience. That’s no accident. Becky, the owner of Lake City Bagels, built the shop around one simple goal: give Warsaw a bagel experience worth talking about.

We sat down with Becky to learn more about her journey, what inspires the menu, and why every bagel starts with quality and care.

Q: What inspired you to open Lake City Bagels?

I saw an opportunity to bring something different to Warsaw. I wanted to create a place where people could enjoy fresh, made-from-scratch bagels without driving to a bigger city. I also wanted every guest to leave with a great meal and an even better experience.

Q: What makes Lake City Bagels different from other bagel shops?

We don’t follow the traditional bagel shop playbook. We bake our bagels fresh every day, create unique cream cheese flavors, and build sandwiches that people remember. We love surprising guests with new combinations while staying committed to quality ingredients and great customer service.

Q: Why do you bake fresh every day?

Freshness matters. You can taste the difference in every bite. A fresh bagel delivers the texture and flavor people expect. We never want guests to settle for yesterday’s bagels because today’s bagels always taste better.

Q: How do you come up with new menu ideas?

Inspiration comes from everywhere. Sometimes I think about comfort food. Other times I want to recreate a favorite flavor in a new way. I also listen to our guests because they share great ideas. I enjoy experimenting until we create something that’s fun, delicious, and unique to Lake City Bagels.

Q: Do you have a favorite menu item?

That’s like picking a favorite child. It changes all the time! I love our creative cream cheeses because they let guests try something unexpected. I also enjoy watching someone take their first bite of one of our signature bagel sandwiches. Their reaction says it all.

Q: What’s the biggest challenge of owning a local business?

Every day brings something different. Running a small business means wearing a lot of hats. At the same time, that’s part of what I love. Every challenge gives us a chance to learn, improve, and serve our community even better.

Q: What do you enjoy most about serving the Warsaw community?

The people. We have amazing regulars who brighten our day, and we love meeting first-time visitors, too. Watching families make us part of their weekly routine means everything. We wanted to create more than a bagel shop. We wanted to create a place where people feel welcome.

Q: What should first-time visitors order?

Come ready to try something new. Grab one of our signature bagel sandwiches, sample one of our specialty cream cheeses, and don’t skip the muffins. We love introducing guests to flavors they didn’t expect to enjoy.

What’s next for Lake City Bagels?

We’ll keep doing what we do best: baking fresh every day, creating exciting menu items, and finding new ways to make every visit memorable. We always look for ways to grow while staying true to who we are.
